FAQ

Although we are confident you chose us knowingly, we have occasionally welcomed guests who seemed surprised by our location — rather like someone who turns up at the beach in ski boots. We have therefore prepared this list.

I put it in the sat nav but I can't find you

In our directions we wrote not to use sat nav. All navigation apps, including Google Maps, can take you to the wrong destination depending on where you're coming from — there are two Santa Cristinas in Gubbio. Just follow our directions. Trust us, it's in our interest that you actually get here.

The road is unpaved

You don't say. It is a municipal road maintained by the council, not by us. For complaints, the Mayor receives by appointment: 075/9237216.

Is it the only road to get there?

Yes.

It's long / longer than I expected

It was 5.6 km when we renovated and, accounting for continental drift, it should still be the same. We haven't moved the house since you booked.

It takes an hour to drive

5.6 km takes 8 minutes at 40 km/h, 11 minutes at 30 km/h, 17 minutes at 20 km/h. On foot, approximately 48 minutes.

The road is not lit

True. The chickens go to bed early and don't read — the council has joined the "switch off and save" initiative.

We arrived early for check-in

We set a check-in time because we are not a grand hotel but a family-run farm — we have no receptionist. The rooms need to be cleaned. If you want to arrive earlier, call us, we usually find a solution.

Are there insects?

Yes. We are in the countryside — we don't use pesticides. Insects are a substantial part of the natural environment.

There's no pool? No television?

No, there never have been. It's written everywhere. Are you sure you checked where you were going?

You must be crazy to live somewhere like this

Probably. Gubbio is known as the city of madmen. But you chose us — we didn't force you. Did you point at the map at random, or is this some kind of punishment?

I'm at a junction with a Guinzano sign — which way do I go?

Follow the sign. We put them there specifically to bring you here.

Does the road end here?

No, it continues to Honolulu but the bridge has collapsed.

Your question is not on the list?

Write to us directly — we will answer with the same frankness.
